Made it to Columbia!

I went and picked up the Festivus this weekend. The car drove pretty good on the 280 mile drive. I also got about 37.5 miles per gallon driving between 75 and 85 mph. I'll drive it sparingly between now and the BABErally. Hopefully, the drive to New York to Orleans and back home will be just as uneventful.

Hi Amanda and thanks for posting. We do not have any real merkins yet. Hopefully, they will not be necessary for this trip. Although, they are probably easier to find than an Elvis wig this time of year. The word merkin kind of serves two purposes for us:

1. Our rally hosts are from the other side of the pond and we are Americans. Now when Dave and I say "American" with our southern drawl it sounds like "merkin" or "murriken"

2. I am a big fan of the band Tool. Their lead singer (Maynard James Keenan a winery and the vineyards name is Merkin Vineyards (http://www.caduceus.org/).
